The WCD Project (WCD short for Washington Crossing the Delaware) borrows its title from the iconic 1851 painting by German-American artist Emanuel Leutze that was intended to inspire European revolutionaries. I reinterpret this depiction of a symbolic American story in a performance involving a post-war Japanese car with an implanted custom American engine rebuilt from scratch by my brothers and me.

The performance, hosted by The Dallas Symphony Orchestra's SOLUNA: International Music and Arts Festival, will take place on May 23rd in an empty warehouse east of Deep Ellum in Dallas, Texas. The completed custom hand-painted car will perform donuts, an action in which the quickly accelerating car will spin in place, in front of a similarly painted interpretation of Washington Crossing the Delaware.

Francisco Moreno's performance/installation includes a hand-painted classic sports car executing donuts in front of a related large-scale painting, illuminating the artist's experience as a Mexican immigrant.
